OVERVIEW-
This unique program for older children and young people who love to create (make, build, construct, model, photograph, film, animate), was first ‘revealed’ by nature of the shifting sands of experiences of the artistic directors of Creative Catalyst and Vala Club.
Like a legend haunted lost city in a vast desert, the Shifting Sands program beckons to all those with the imagination and curiosity to explore its many vaulted palaces…
Each school holiday program Shifting Sands will include a selection from the following full range:-
Miniatures, modelling, mixed-media crafts- figurines, terrain & structures
Masks & make-up, costumes & character props
Character art, story-boards, script-writing
Multimedia- audio, photo, & video recording including stop-motion leading to animation
While training is offered in the different fields during the general school holiday program format, mostly we employ a hands-on, peer-to-peer, trial & error approach, particularly suited to older children and young people.
This is strongly supplemented by expertise shared by contracted specialists and by the overall guidance of capable practitioners and facilitators, most notably-
The Sultan of the Shifting Sands, ‘Uber Geek’ GQ magazine, and Minister of Miniatures Chris Harris-Pascal;
Vala Club‘s SeniorDM Math Long BA (Anthropology); and
Creative Catalyst‘s developer and artist extraordinaire Teffany Thiedeman BA (Visual Arts).
Further expertise in the specifically visual arts fields may be gained by participation in the relevant Creative Catalyst (our sister program on-site, see www.creativecatalyst.com.au) workshops.
Older (13yrs+) participants may elect to specialise; pursuing this course during school holidays as well as through the vehicle of the M-Group (some Saturdays and quarterly weekend Intensives).
Once ‘proven’ they can earn reward points towards the cost of Shifting Sands participation, and, eventually, payment for product.
